I've been recieving a free subscription to a Linux
oriented mag called 'Open' that I found while surfing
for semiconductor trade magazines (my line of
business.)

They serve up a first-class monthly magazine, and
weekly e-zine's for the other weeks of the month.
Content is geared toward IT professionals who need
open
source (95% linux) as part of their solutions. This
months copy includes copy on a clustering databases, a
review of a linux web-appliance platform, review (with

benchmark data) of a 1U rackmount webserver running
redhat 7.1 , and 10+ other articles.

Here's their latest (and probably my last) e-zine for
your review.

Click http://www.e-open.ws/e_open5.pdf to download
this week's
e-Open. And send a copy to your friends mired in
proprietary systems

Coming next week in e-Open, an in-depth look at web
services and
where.NET fits in (or doesn't) as well as a review of
an SDLT library with
BRU (yes, this popular package is alive and well).

Regards,
The editors of Open magazine

(note: changing the number above will take you to the
other e-zines.. yes its relatively new. The magazine
is in its 2nd year tho.)

I searched thru the site for a link to their
subscription page, and can't locate it. They have an
email address listed in the magazine under
subscriptions tho:

opn at e-open.ws .. and the phone number looks toll
free too: 877-532-3969

This month they informed me I'd have to start paying
for the magazine., Altho it is worth the 39.00 year
cost, I've recently been "promoted" into a reduced
salary. Needless to say, paying the rent takes
priority over hobbies.

If you do write to them, mention my name and maybe
I'll get a few more copies. :-)

Thanks,

Michael
