This is a known problem (also exists with win98). It ususally prevents
windows from coming up when going from RedHat to Windows, but it also
hangs things the other way around, when booting into RedHat (or Mandrake)
from windows. It usually happens on LapTops.
I think you could go on the RH site for bugzilla and find it. Also,
Norton Commander has this problem, and their website has proposed fixes.
These proposed fixes don't work for me. The only solution I have found
so far is to always power the system down between reboots.
I did give Mandrake a bug report on it, and they closed it, saying that
windows bugs aren't fixable.
I don't agree with that, but I don't have the time to fix it myself in
the kernel. It would take several months for me to do it, and I don't
have the time. A power down is my workaround.
