They're still widely used in businesses where paperwork hasn't given way to 
electronics.  No-carbon-repeat invoicing is still popular in that sector, and 
no laser or ink-based printer can print on NCR paper.  Even printing multiple 
copies on a relatively fast (read expensive) laser printer can be slower than 
printing two or three copies via NCR on a reasonably fast dot matrix.
