You can use just about anything you want with Slackware.  The only catch 
is that you're much more likely to have to compile it yourself.  With the 
latest version of RH (whatever that might be at any given moment) chances 
are good you can find RPMs for what you want.  No such luck with Slack.  
It's a wonderful distribution (and what I prefer for the most part), but 
in many ways you're on your own in terms of building a machine that has 
all the tools you want.
