Only if you go in through the back door of an organization. The HR
department and the bean counters keep people out. I've found that is
their job. The "catbert" hr guy is a very accurate portrayal of HR, from
what I have seen. They purr at you, rub on your leg, and then try to rip
your eyes out with their claws.

BTW, I am a consultant that owns his own company, and has a few people
working for him. I don't need a job right now, though that can change
overnight. I have had God smile on me, and have weathered a lot of
storms. The statements are made from personal observation.

One time I saw an ad in the paper. I sent a resume to HR. No response.
I sent another resume. I got a "No thanks." I had a friend that worked
there. I talked to the friend. He begged me to come and interview. I
called HR and made an appointment. The HR guy was friendly and told me
there were no openings. I walked out of his office, met my friend, and
interviewed with his boss. The HR guy called and offered me a job the
next day. He was actively my enemy from that point on, something I did
not realize until years later.

After that, I never darkened the door of HR again, and have had very
good success staying employed. I learned to stay as far away from those
guys as possible.
