  Another way in the door of employment (not consultancy) is to think

  At that point, you have some names or people to talk to.  See what
recruitment agencies they use to get technical help.  Get their number,
and call them and send them your resume, after developing a phone based 
relationship with one of them.

  Generally, the recruitment people get 20% of your annual income  to
place you. The employeer pays this fee, not you.

 Also, generally, they never go through HR. They identify the
bosses in the groups, and develop a relationship with them (phone based).
They then send resumes targeted to them, bypassing HR, or at least FORCING
the HR department to send the resumes to their desk.
