If its claimed and in use, serious problems occur. If it behaves like
normal DHCP (RFC anyone?), then it should stay the same if you renew it
during the lease time. That renewal process should work with pump or
some other DHCP client.
If you keep your machine off for appreciable time, all bets are off.
Thank goodness for routers that are UPS'ed.
