[NTLUG:Discuss] ...a little more on AT&T as it stands...

We have several people effected adversely by the AT&T "no static IP"
rule, and so our help desk, and security people are taking it seriously.
Our help desk got a response from AT&T this afternoon that indicated
that AT&T "may" think about "other service" after the network is stable
- ETA late January, first part of February, 2002. Right now they are
just happy that it works (that is, wherever it works - some places
around the country it doesn't work at all yet). They said that the
Dallas area went "really well" - so you can imagine what that means for
some other areas.
Our help desk manager was on hold and online to AT&T, at the same time
today, and he said his hold time today (in two segments) equaled about 1
1/2 hours, and his queue number on line was 700+ in the morning, and
well over 1000 in the afternoon. He said he talked to the highest
supervisor he could, who in response to a request for a name, or number,
of someone higher to talk to, said he could only give out a PO box
address, and nothing else.
No proof that isn't smoke, but there you have it.
