If you're running an internal LAN and have as your server a box that is 
mainly a workstation...and/or if you don't access the equipment when you're 
away from the house--could you use APM on the "server" machine with a NIC 
that has the Wake On Lan feature?

In other words, would that enable you to run your entire network in low 
power mode until or unless you use a system on the network that accesses 
the server?
