[NTLUG:Discuss] Using the entire monitor screen

I am using Mandrake 8.1 and gnome desktop.
I purchased Applixware 5.0 and I can't install because the applix 
welcome screen is too large for the desktop.  I have an inch of unused 
screen space to the left and below the desktop.
How do I change the resolution so I am using the entire monitor space 
and/or the desktop so I can see all of this installation window.  
In my Caldera distribution I could change the resolution but I can find 
the utility in Mandrake.
But even then I had a lot of unused screen space.
