History shows try the simple first have you run the adsl-start script yet. The standard way of setting this up would be to run adsl-setup go through the simple questions it asks. Then urn adsl-start and check to see if you have a ppp0 connection using ifconfig. If you do and you are still not connecting then there may be other issues involved.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] ADSL connections, HEEELP
My mandrake connection refuses to work so I am trying rp-pppoe.
I have setup and it says connected but no joy on a browser.
My eth0 card seems to be up. I checked using ifup eth0.
no errors. The address of the card is 10.0.0.10
I am using SBC dsl and it works fine in windows but driving me crazy
in linux. The mandrake control center says eth0 is up and OK.
I am a newby so be gentle. I am reeeeally dumb. Why can;t my browser see the internet?
