I am attempting to set up remote access using PPP on a Red Hat 7.2 server. I want to give the PPP users access to only the WEB based application on that server. No access to other hosts on the LAN is to be allowed. 99+% of my remote users us MS Windows, so I am testing with different versions of MS "Dial Up Networking" tools.

This seemed quite simple, however, the server times out the connection attempting IP negotiation. According to the log files at both the client and the server end, all other protocols LCP, PAP, etc. are up and running. After seveal attempts, IPCP terminates. I am using mgetty/AutoPPP to start PPP with options.

These questions come following reading "Linux Administrators Guide, 2nd edition, Olaf & Dawson, and Using and Managing PPP, Andrew Sun. Of course these books are good review, but spend more time discussing DNS, routeing, etc.

This has got to be a forest and trees thing. I just haven't been able to see what I am missing. Something quite obvious I am sure. PLEASE HELP!
