Oh well! Never mind!
I did the Micro$oft thing and rebooted. System refused to boot.
I was thinking about installing 8.2 anyway so I did.
Everything works for now.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] Upgrade breaks things
All of sudden (after updating Mandrake 8.1 packages) I can't burn CDs.
The CDRW drive will mount a CD and I can read it just fine.
cdrecord -scanbus reports
Cdrecord 1.10 (i586-mandrake-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 Jörg
Schilling
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are
root.
modprobe reports
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.4.8-26mdk/modules.dep
(No such file or directory)
Sure enough I now have /lib/modules/2.4.8-34.1mdk/modules.dep
I thought upgrades were only supposed to break things with that other OS.
What do I need to edit to change /2.4.8-26mdk/ to /2.4.8-34.1mdk/? Is there
anything else I need to check?
TIA
Bobby
