[NTLUG:Discuss] IBM 600E Think Pad CDROM problem

I have just installed RH 7.2 on a Think Pad 600E everything when without a 
hitch.  The only problem is the CDROM.  I can mount the cdrom about 70% of 
the time.  The other 30% It will not let me mount.  When it does mount the 
cdrom and I try to read a cd with it (i.e. install some rpms), it will not 
work. I get the error { error: read failed: Input/output error (5)}  
when i exchange the cdrom w/ the floppy.  It works fine.   I would think 
it's the cdrom it self, but it worked fine when windows was on it.  This 
is my first LapTop install, and mabey things are diffrent from the 
desktops I am use to working on.  Any help would be appreciated.

366 Mhz
96 MB ram
RH 7.2
Swappable cdrom and floppy
