Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] Who Invented the Internet!
I haven't posted here in a while but I saw something rather scary
today that
I thought I would pass along. On the home page at work there is a
daily
survey. Today's topic was 'Who invented the Internet'. There were
4
choices.
1. ARPA
2. Microsoft
3. University of Texas
4. Smithsonian Institute
I voted and then checked the results. ARPA, the correct answer, had
just
over 50% of the votes. But to my surprise a good 25% chose
Microsoft. That
many people think Microsoft invented the Internet!!
Mind you I don't know how many had actually voted. Also I think the
voting
is corporate wide, not just the IS department. But still I would
hate to
think this is a representative sample.
