I recently upgraded SuSE 7.2 to 8.0. Well, tried to update.
Last year I had updated from SuSE 7.0 to 7.2, and the whole
installation was smooth as snot.
But this time, not.
The installation went fine, SuSE recognized my partitions, saw
ther was a Red Hat root partition as well (I boot into Red Hat from
a floppy), and gave me a choice of which partition to declare as
root. When finished, it did its auto reboot, and things looked good.
But after a power-down, attempt to boot into linux gives the msg:
LILO: no signature found
A second attempted update reinstallation produced the same result.
I went in under rescue mode, looked around, noticed that in /boot
partition the vmlinuz file had a timestamp of last year. There was a
new vmlinuz.suse. I edited lilo.conf to point to vmlinuz.suse, but
again LILO found no signature.
Help? What else do I need to look at?
