I think I've seen that commercial. But they may be
leaving out some fine print. On the AT&T Networking
Site, they are trying to sell the home networking
package with Linksys equipment, but part of the
package involves buying additional IP addresses.
I think that they realize many households are becoming
multiple PC families but most don't know how to build
a home network. Technically you could just buy all
the switches, routers, and cables yourself and install
it with one IP address. That's the beauty of linux.
Total customization.
But for an upcharge, they do it (And sell you things
you don't need). That sort of reminds me of undercoat
on cars. Some people might get the package so that
don't want the hassle or learning curve of geeky terms
like DHCP, NAT, gateway, DNS, etc.
