Not sure what you mean by "local area calling maps." If you mean a
map that shows a rough outline of the various area code regions in
Texas, I have a phone book with such a map and will copy and mail or
fax it to you if you like. Just let me know.
If you are wanting to determine, as George suggests, whether or not a
call from a certain location is or is not local, then all you need to
do is dial the number, usually with or without the 1 prefix. My
experience has been that if you call a local number and use a 1 prefix
you will get a recording telling you that the 1 is not necessary.
YMMV. If you don't use the 1 prefix and the number is LD you can bet
that you'll get a recording telling you to put in the 1! Besides,
with the way they are mingling calling areas these days and the
expansion of local calling areas to avoid the competition for long
distance services, an area code gives you little information as to
whether the call is toll free. Where I live, I have toll free service
to two different area codes (but, of course, not all of the phones in
either area) and just got a notice that there will soon be three!
