The trick to that is to 'tar' your files prior to putting them onto the 
msdos format
floppy.  Then, ownerships, group ownerships, long filenames, mixed-case 
file names,
links and permissions are *all* retained inside the tarball and 
reconstructed when they
are retrieved.  Most versions of tar let you ignore ownerships and links 
if that's what
you prefer.
