[NTLUG:Discuss] Sane is driving me insane

(this is based on mandrake 8.0, minor adjustments may be needed for 8.1...)

Try this:

log into your favorite X session

on the K menu (or the equivalent START menu replacement)

K -->  Configuration --> Packaging --> Software Manager

	--> if your not logged in as root, you'll need the root password

	--> Do NOT configure a security update source 

	--> in the search box type 'sane'

Those are the available mandrake preconfigured sane packages, that work with 
no headaches just getting it started.  I'm not a sane guru tho.. i can't 
comment on getting sane to work..
