[NTLUG:Discuss] color printing question

I don't have THE ANSWER... but I have some items I noted when I used to have
an HP 855C.

The default driver (dj500?? can't remember) was too dark.
The optional dj850 driver had better gamma, but colors were off.
The HP drivers (yes, HP makes some closed source drivers) had the
best color match, but were buggy.

I went back to the dj850 drivers and lived with the color variations.

I now have an Epson C80... it rocks with the gimp-print module and
cups.... text
is not as clear as the HP, but the color is excellent and the printer is
very fast (for an ink jet).

I also have an Epson Perf. 2450 scanner that I use with Linux, not
directly supported yet... but works ok with the older 1650 driver.
