[NTLUG:Discuss] Video Record

You can hook up a camera ( s-vide or RCA Plug ) to a 'standalone' ( not
the ones with the DSS receiver ) TiVo. I run my DVD player into my TiVo
that was so I can copy DVD movies to the TiVo for later viewing.

You can use Extract Stream to get video off of the TiVo onto a VCD. I've
never done much with that. I see ZERO use for watching a VCD on my PC
when I can watch tv on my 36" TV. I've played with MPEG-4 video stuff
and it looks like crap. You'd use an ethernet connection to the the
TiVo data off and use extract stream to get the MPEG2 video and audio
stream. You then have to merge them back together to make your VCD or
SVCD.

So for Security you can put in a larger hard drive ( 2 160Gig
drives will work I think... I know that two 120Gig drives will work
and just set it to record for 24 hours strait. You can FF or do the
'jump to 15 minute tick mark' feature to jump around to the hour
you want. You can keep days worth of vide on the box.
