I've heard the same thing about XFS.  I haven't tried it yet though.  I
have used Reiser and Ext3 though.  Reiser does seem to be a little
faster. For what I do with my box the speed isn't really an issue.  I
haven't had any trouble with either of them yet. I simply use whatever
journaling FS the distro offers at install time and go with it.  I'll
jump on XFS when I hear it's more stable.
