I'm not a computing professional (I teach philosophy), but the proposals
being discussed certainly don't sound professional to me.  I can easily
envision the university I work for suing any contractor who did the
sorts of things being discussed here.  And once the courts get involved
in anything, the party with more money at its disposal has a huge
advantage.
