Usually this type of error results from the db name, host, user, or password being incorrect.
I don't have any experience with this software, but I was curious so, I downloaded it.
It is using postgresql as the db and it appears to assume that you have set it up correctly with user account stuff.

Did this error occur while you ran ~/scripts/setup.pl ? That script appears to ask for all of the db information and writes a config file (unique.pm) for you. If/when you ran the setup.pl script, did you enter the correct information for your database?
