[NTLUG:Discuss] backup device recommendations

  up until now I've been restricted to using old hardware for my lab boxes
and servers and have never had the need for a solid backup solution under
Linux since everything until now has been a "test  environment" and most of
my clients have NT/2000 servers doing file backups. 
 I know a bit about tape devices on Linux but don't
have enough experience to confidently choose a particular device for my
needs.
I'm hoping you all can give me some direction on what to purchase.
this is what I need.

-10+ GB capacity.
-less then $350 (including tapes)
-IDE or SCSI assuming I can get the controler with the drive for less then
$400
-Something known to work reliably with minimal setup time would be nice..
