If you are still not having any luck, you could try from a root console
(EG: tty1)
lynx -source http://go-gnome.com/ > install-ximian.sh
chmod 755 install-ximian.sh
xinit $PWD/install-ximian.sh -- :1
(The last bit, "-- :1" is for if you are already running X as a normal
user)
I personally think that the whole mechanism for installing ximian this
way is asking for trouble with a site defacement, or dns spoofing etc..
If you are feeling paranoid, you should check the source for the shell
script, or ximian should provide a signed checksum that you can verify.
