Does it have to be tape? If it's just a simple backup (not worrying about
fire or something), then just buy another hard drive.
If you need to take it offsite, then you might still want to get another hard
drive, and check into the "removeable drive kits". Search Google with
"removeable hard drive". The kit is generally < $50, plus an 60-80G hard
drive for < $100, and you're easily less than $350.
Please note, I haven't used a setup like this with Linux, but it sounds like
it should work. :-) I have use DLT tapes with Linux, which would meet all
your requirements except for price.
