[NTLUG:Discuss] quick NIC question

Thanks all, for sharing your experiences on this issue.
In the past, with the other OS, I was only able to run two NICs on the
same box if they were literally identical.
The only attempt I have made to date with Linux also failed, but that
turned out to be a motherboard specific problem - cheap old Dell system
that hated everything "not Dell".
I now have a Compaq EVO with an Intel P4 1.7GHz CPU, and an "on board"
Intel EtherExpress Pro 100B NIC.
You words of encouragement make me hopeful of adding a single new NIC,
and running on down the road of happy computing.
In my case it isn't for a firewall/router (got one of those), but to
have access from two disparate networks - both behind firewalls.
