OK, I had recently posted a message about my first Kernel compile.
As far as I can tell I compiled 2.4.19 just fine on my Laptop.

So, I tried to do it on my desktop. Now When I boot to the new kernel(on
my desktop) I get a kernel panic and it will not boot. Below is what I
think is the kernel panic message. If you guys have any idea please let
me know. Thanks,

kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-3, errno = 2
VFS: cannot open root device "302" or 03:02
Please append a correct "root =" boot option
Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02

The system is a RedHat 7.3

this is the steps I followed to compile my kernel:

make mrproper
make xconfig
make dep
make clean
make bzImage
make modules
make modules_install
depmod -a 2.4.19

This is my first kernel compile, so please go easy on the Newbie,

Thanks for your help,
