The image rejection is with the latest Mozilla browser
(1.X) is fairly the same in as was in previous
versions...actually IMHO it is much improved:

Under the Privacy and Security section of the
preferences window you should change the default
setting to better filter unwanted ads and so on:

In the image acceptance policy area select to accept
images that come from the originating server only.

And in Animated Images should loop area you should
select the never setting.

There are also some other settings you may not be
aware of in the Advanced section of Preferences which
will prevent webpages from spawning other activities
as well:


Just go to the Advanced/Scripts and Window settings
area and deselect the items that you don't wish to
recieve from sites(the default settings are  not to
stop anything).

The settings I've described work on Mozilla 1.X for
Linux, Windows, and OSX.
