[NTLUG:Discuss] Linux n00b says Hi

Just dropping the list a note to say Hi. I've subscribed for several weeks but haven't submitted anything yet. I was looking on the NTLUG site and wondering when the Oct. meeting is scheduled. Are they always held on Saturdays? I work in Mesquite from 1 PM to midnight and was wondering how long a typical meeting lasts.

I'm busy saving up to get a new mobo, cpu and ram (mobo fried right after I'd bought a brand new 80 gb WD... bleh). Once I have a working pc I'm thinking of putting Debian on. I've heard, however, that Debian is very difficult to install. Is this true? Currently I'm reading Steve Shah's Beginning Linux Administration and Jon Lasser's Think Unix.

Just thought I'd say hi since I might be sending emails to the list if I can't find answers to my questions online or in my books.
