[NTLUG:Discuss] Running Applications with Root privileges

Is there a switch or something that I can use to run a program (nmap) as
root when I am a user? I know I can su then run it, but what I would
like to do is be able to launch nmap from my desktop, without having to
su first. I am using Windowmaker and RH 7.3. I have been reading up on
this, and I found something about setuid bit, is anyone familiar with
this? Thanks
