Unauthorized access to or prevention of access to a machine would be
considered illegal. All you have to do is run any logging on an
internet connected host and you will see that scanning is the number one
pasttime of a lot of people.
Port Scanning is like the Wardialing that Telemarketers do - with the
exception my internet host doesn't ring every time one of the a##%@(!$
makes the call. If it did I would be a lot less jovial person!
