[NTLUG:Discuss] library file missing - a little off topic

This one is somewhat off topic, but here goes ...
(1) I am trying to compile and link a shared library file (in C) on SGI 
IRIX with Oracle 8.0.4.1 that was originally done on Sun Solaris 2.5.1 
with Oracle 8.0.3
(2) The compile is completing without error, but
(3) The link is failing with a fatal error because it cannot find a file 
named "libmail_utl.so", and it is true that the file is not on the SGI
Does anyone know anything about this file?  Is it specific to Sun, 
Oracle, or what?  Is there an equivalent file?  I have looked for it on 
RH Linux (7.2) thinking it might be gcc specific, but I cannot find it.
