Apparently the wacom_drv.o driver gets installed by default when 
XFree86 4.2.1 is compiled.  In my case, all I have to do is "man 
4 wacom" to learn about options...it looks a little more 
complicated than your basic mouse config, but it's workable.  
Intuos is mentioned in particular, so it's definitely supported 
(w00t!).

I myself have never actually configured such a device, so all I 
can do is direct you to the man page. =/
