[NTLUG:Discuss] How to change the significant bits in color specification??

Hi there,

The question is when I run xdpyinfo command. It shows a attribute 
"significant bits in color specification: 6 bits". How can I change this
value to 8 bits?? I try to use xrdb, but I can't make it work. I think I 
didn't do it right. Can you show me how to modify this value.
