That depends on what "depth" you're running at.  For example, I'm running at a 
16bit depth, and mine says "significant bits in color specification: 8 bits". 
  You're probably running at a lower depth, and therefore display model.

There is a program to help you change that, but it depends on what distro you 
have (e.g. on Suse it's "sax2" for 8.0 or "sax" for older versions).  *That is 
assuming your video card has enough RAM to support that!!!*

If you're really brave, :-) you can hand modify your XF86Config.  But be 
_VERY_ careful with is this.  *WARNING!*  Bad sync rates (and maybe modelines 
too) can actually fry (as in up in smoke) your monitor.  Read the man pages 
carefully..or use the programs to help you. :-)
