Turns out the Tyan board's BIOS was to blame. Patching to the latest
rev level fixed the ethernet problem. Tyan... who seems interested
in helping me all of the sudden... well... I told them that they should
have something in their support sight about that. My guess is that
the ethernet didn't work no matter what OS you used without a BIOS
update.
I'm happy now (and maybe Tyan will start supporting Linux in the
future because of all of this).
I would say that more than 50% of the Fortune 100 have Linux in house
performing a business related task. I think we'll see more vendors
supporting Linux over the next year.
