I tried it a while back when it was version 5.0..
It's a nice compiler. Back when I tried it, it pretty much beat
gcc 2.95.x hands-down in terms of producing faster code.
Lately, though, gcc's narrowed the gap quite a bit as of 3.2.x.
One thing that's always been true about icc (and still is) is
that it produces far better Pentium4-optimized code than gcc.
This is kind of important for Pentium4 owners, because without
optimized code, the Pentium4 tends to...well...suck.
