If you could pursuade Linux to treat the link as a simple
character device (like a serial port), you could run ppp
over it and it would appear just like an Ethernet connection.

At 400Mbit, it would be faster than 100baseT Ethernet too - maybe
even comparable to a 1GHz Ethernet (which never seem to run faster
than ~300Mbit/sec).
