Without addressing the rationality of how certain commands entered into
a system could violate copyright (could I write C source that would
infringe on a C compiler's author's copyright?), I see one potential
benefit to society out of this.

Could enforcement of Timeline's claims prove to be the ultimate cure for
the MS Slapper worm? :-)

Enquiring minds must know, at least to the point our queries become
infringments on intellecual property rights...
