I'm on attbi/Comcast as well and I don't see any signs of them changing 
IP's at all.  I think they shortened the lease, but if you have your 
router and modem backed up with a UPS, the router will renew the lease 
forever, just don't power off the router or the modem.

I run a remote backup every night to a system at my house and I talk to 
that system frequently from work, so I'd know immediately if there was a 
change of IPs.  I'm sure it has not changed in over a year since my 
/etc/hosts has not changed in at least that long.

The newer modems LinkSys modems support both local and remote config, 
but I always turn off remote config to keep out pests.
