pretty much any SCSI tape drive will work with Linux.
DLT drives are what most of the data centers use.
It's fairly quick ( as tapes go ) and reliable.
You can get 15Gig easy on a DLT tape. Ebay has them
for under $200ish. DLT tapes are kind of pricey.
With cheap harddrives, you can use rsync or something
similar and do machine to machine backups over the network.
