I'm posting this using a new motherboard I bought
at the 3rd Saturday Sidewalk sale. The motherboard
contains the following:
1Ghz VIA C3 CPU ( /proc/cpu info says 733Mhz )
10/100 Lan
Video
MicroATX ( 3 pci slots )
modem riser slot ( no modem )
Audio
( this may be the same thing that is in the
FRY's cheap linux pc )
I hooked up 64Meg or Memory, hardrive and cdrom
and installed RedHat 8.0. ( I had to add another
64Meg memory stick to make this work well.) RH
and 64Meg does't work well ( the video used 16M
of the 64Meg... there was a lot of paging with the
GUI Up. )
Out of the box ( other than having to use text install
instead of gui install ) the
Video,
Lan,
and Audio are supported/detected at install time.
/proc/cpu info shows:
[root at localhost root]# cat /proc/cpuinfo
processor : 0
vendor_id : CentaurHauls
cpu family : 6
model : 7
model name : VIA Ezra
stepping : 10
cpu MHz : 735.007
cache size : 64 KB
fdiv_bug : no
hlt_bug : no
f00f_bug : no
coma_bug : no
fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 1
wp : yes
flags : fpu de tsc msr cx8 mtrr pge mmx 3dnow
bogomips : 1468.00
anyway... not bad for $56. I've got the business card
of the place ( in Plano ) if anyone wants it.
Would be a good candidate for a router.
