Attempting to install RH 7.2 with ext2 on a Compaq Deskpro with a P-II
400Mhz, 384 MB memory, and 2 - 60 GB IDE hard drives (yes, you have seen
this machine listed here before - may have a hardware issue).

My question today: Does it seem unreasonable for the install to still
be checking for "bad blocks" after more than 18 hours? The hard drive
access sound being emitted from the machine (if you get down close to it
and listen) is a slow, rhythmic, repeating pattern, much of like a
sleepy cricket. The hard drive light is continuously lit, and the mouse
will still move the pointer.

Oops - I think I may have stumbled across the problem (maybe) - call me
impatient but 19 hours for an install just seemed too long so I started
again.

It seemed to be complaining about having swap as hda5 (part of the
extended partition) and seemed to want to make hda3 into swap - so I
repartitioned to follow the "suggestion" and started over.

Anyone had this experience before?
