Been there, done that, didn't like it. ;-)  That's the result of installing a 
non-MS OS on the box.  You can thank Compaq for this bit of engineering 
wisdom. :-)

You can either just live with it since it only happens on boot, assuming you 
don't reboot very often.  Or if you have or can get ahold of the Compaq BIOS 
Utilities floppy disk (I think that's what it's called), you can run the 
utility program on that disk to reset something in the BIOS to avoid that 
"error".  Sorry, I can't tell you what to reset, but I suspect it's something 
in the boot order or boot devices area.

I just had ours on a big UPS and then we didn't reboot; but that was generally 
because someone before me had lost the BIOS utility floppy that came with the 
computer. :-/
