Well, your GOutlaw plan does sound interesting - a very big R&D
project, and who knows yet where the bottleneck will be. (Altho I sure
don't see why an authentication process would need to be distributed)
Sorry about your troubles with the A7N8X. Others don't seem to be
having problems:

I just realized that both A7N8X mb's are the "SPP" versions and not
the "IGP" versions with integrated graphics. My goal with the cluster is
to avoid a server farm (bunch-o'-boxes), and to be able to stack
fully-functional mb's as nodes closely together, _without_ paying for rack
prices. The MSI K7N2G-ILSR for instance is only $131 (newegg.com).
Another is Leadtek Winfast K7NCR18G-Pro for $125. Altho only 1 nic, you
can use ethernet over firewire too. A decent integrated graphics chip
means I could conceivably drive a MASS display. Oh well, dream on...
