Cygwin isn't Linux though.
It has a 'bash' type shell and a lot of the GNU tools and the gcc
compiler - but it's very definitely just an application under Windows.
You can't run Linux binaries or mount a Linux filesystem or anything
and all the problems of running Windows (security, BSoD's, etc) are
still there.
Programs that run under Cygwin are just regular Windoze programs.
