Howdy,
The version of SAMBA included with Mandrake 9 is a significantly
different version. When I upgraded from 8.0 to 8.2(Mandrake 9.0 has a
version that is only a minor upgrade from what was in 8.2), I could not
access any of my Linux SAMBA shares on my Windows machines. I bet there
are numerous ways to solve the problem. I fixed my problem by creating
accounts on the Linux machines for every user id that needed access to the
SAMBA shares and gave them access to the shares by editing the smb.conf
file. I think you need to look at the security of the shares and do what
is best for you.
Good day,
Ralph
